About Me

Hey, Y'all, welcome to my blog!

Here's the story behind my creative life...I started doing wedding flowers back in 2001.  My mom is a florist and taught me everything I know and what I didn't know, well, I winged it!

Then I started crafting little odds and ends and hosting in home open houses to my friends. I began painting furniture and eventually starting selling my goods on consigment at a couple of boutiques. I participated in my first craft market when my baby girl was only a few months old.  Since then, I've added a few more shows to my career and have met some amazing people along the way.

Then in 2012, the most perfect little building and location became available and we opened up our very own shop, The Rusted Rooster. Over the lasts few years, it has been home to several vendors who sell their handmade/repurposed goods out of our shop. We host an outdoor vintage market that allows many other local vendors to participate because it's very important to me to shop small and shop local.

So now my days are spent running the shop, designing awesome displays, painting (all. the. time.), hosting an outdoor vintage market, restoring a 1970s farmhouse, camping, chasing a toddler tornado around, wishing my teenager's life would slow down, and loving on my handsome husband who supports the heck out of me.  None of this would be possible without him.

I am extremely blessed to be doing what I love, surrounding myself with amazing friends, blaring the country music, drinking them cold Bud Lights, and lovin' every minute of my little Kansas life.  Ok, probably not loving EVERY minute, but certainly trying to soak it all in and appreciate the time that God has given me.  I hope you find this blog encouraging, inspiring, and just plain REAL!

God bless you and God bless America!

Lissa
